One of my closest friends is a psychotherapist in Minneapolis.  

One Tuesday morning he called me, all excited.

He and two of his colleagues had just attended a Brainspotting Phase 1 training.  All three of them had received Brainspotting sessions as part of the training.

All three of them experienced deep, lasting healing of lifelong trauma that their personal work up until then hadn't fully cleared.  In only one to three Brainspotting sessions. 

My friend's mother died when he was 11.  His father didn't respond well, and the whole family system became pretty unhealthy. He'd done a lot of work and made a lot of progress on the trauma from that over the years, but he still experienced persistent reactivity around his family's dynamics.  That lifelong reactivity dissolved in one Brainspotting session. 

My friend and both his colleagues have been using Brainspotting with their clients for about a month now.  They're seeing the same thing happening: people are consistently experiencing breakthrough results with each session.

What Happened For Me

About 2 weeks later, I received my first Brainspotting session.  I worked on a trigger that's been quite challenging for me. While I've made significant progress on it over the past 2 years using my "inner orphan" and attachment-oriented brain rewiring approaches, when highly activated it could still be pretty disruptive for me.

I resolved that trauma in one Brainspotting session.  (Watch Video #1 for more details about my experience.)

I wasn't just astounded.  I felt deeply grateful.  I feel different now on a very deep level: calmer, more secure, deeply peaceful.  

I've been on a focused healing journey for more than 25 years.  I'm accustomed to effective processes and noticeable change.  And the speed, depth, and breadth of healing that Brainspotting gave me -- in one session! -- is simply stunning.

I received my second Brainspotting session one week after my first session. I worked on my #1 core trauma, experienced in my earliest, most vulnerable moments of life.  If anything, the session was even more powerful; so far, it seems that that core trauma is completely resolved.  I honestly can't quite believe it.

I gave it a week before I shared anything more about it; I always want to see if a shift is stable over time, before I start making conclusions about it.  You can see what unfolded from that in Video #3 (above).

Eight days after my second, I had my third Brainspotting experience.  That experience was more fundamentally transformative for me than I thought possible:  I healed my adoption wound.  Share that journey with me in Video #4.

The short version?  I have a family rooting for me, now.  Even the deepest inner orphans in me feel the deep grounding of belonging with people on this earth.

It's a profound coming home.

I feel unspeakably grateful.

What IS Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a neurophysiological integration process that discovered by an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist in 2003. 

It involves finding the spot in our visual field that opens up all the unconscious associations that one or more previous, unprocessed distressing experiences (traumas) has for us.  

Focusing on a Brainspot while listening to Biolateral music (that alternately plays in our right and left ears, activating both the right and left hemispheres of our brain) allows our brain and body to process and complete that traumatic experience completely and permanently.
