Community Conversations

Our Community Conversations offer a chance for anyone to drop in and explore topics, questions, challenges, and tools that strengthen our capacity to TRULY THRIVE in our everyday lives.

At the beginning of each gathering, Vika offers an overview of the topic, creating a Thriving Life container of compassion, dignity, shared humanity, authentic power, and humor.

Then the space will be opened for us to weave together our questions, challenges, experience, discoveries, and wisdom.

We currently meet:

  • Online
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota

Your presence and partnership is a welcome gift. Please share them with us!

  • Self-Love, Healthy Boundaries, and Vibrant Thriving

Our physical health, vitality, and happiness all begin with our inner vibrant thriving … and our inner thriving begins with genuine self love and healthy boundaries.

But, what does it really mean to love ourselves? What does that look like, how do we do that, in our day-to-day life?

What are healthy boundaries, and how can we maintain them with ease?

Come discover a practical, step-by-step process for loving ourselves and setting healthy boundaries that *actually works* with our busy, everyday lives.

  • NVC: “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, and The Ironic” (PORTLAND, OR)

Some parts of NVC seem amazing, wonderful, life-changing.  Others sound great, but just don’t seem to work in everyday life.  And some parts of it? Just, wow. Seem like the ugly opposite of what NVC is supposed to be all about. (Like, the NVC Police.)

Is the problem with NVC itself? (IMO yes, in some ways — including some critical missing pieces.)

Is the problem with ways we misunderstand or don’t completely “get” NVC … or ourselves? (IMO yes, much of the time … and for really good reasons.)

Vika has spent the past 20 years exploring, struggling, experimenting with, cursing at, and ultimately coming to stand in skeptical awe of this profoundly visionary, profoundly flawed, possibility-expanding set of distinctions, tools, and practices.

Come join us for a frank, funny, compassionately critical community conversation where together we’ll explore NVC and its particular gifts, gaffes, and greatness.

    • Share your own wisdom and experience of what’s worked best for you
    • Ask your most challenging questions
    • Freely express your frustrations and criticisms (we’ll honor all your longings and unmet needs)
    • Get clarity about the parts of NVC that can really work in every day life, and which parts are best for practicing with your learning community
    • Get validation for those things you want to leave out of your NVC practice
    • Expand your skills at creating thriving in your life and relationships
    • Connect with like-hearted others who share your vision and values
    • Leave with clarity and connection that nourish and empower you

WHERE:   Online (Zoom video conference)
COST:   A $10-$15 donation is appreciated to cover organizing and meeting space costs.  Students/special circumstances $5-$7. No one turned away for lack of funds.
